Lunch with Santa at @deweyspizza is a favorite tradition with friends. . I've wondered over the years how not being close to family would shape holidays. While I feel a little melancholy thinking of holidays in my past, I know my kids haven't missed out. And, I'm not sad. December is always such a mixed bag of feelings for me. It's going to be cold, there is going to be glad tidings and melancholy memories, and there is so much to do before the end of the year.

As the kids get older and have more opinions, there seems to be even less time to do all the things I want to do with them. But, I will try damn it! Even if it means breaking out the guilt!

Lucky for me, they are good sports.
