Mother's Day Cake Decorating Fun at Wild Flour Bakery

Call me crazy, but I'm not a fan of Mother's Day. I am pretty crazy about cakes though. When a friend suggested we take the kids to Wild Flour Bakery to decorate cakes for Mother's Day I was quick to sign up. So glad we didn't wait! We got the last three spots!

This bakery is more than some cakes. They make edible works of art.

I could not guess what the kids would come up with for their cakes. The last cake the oldest decorate was for Easter when he was three. It was a bunny cake covered in jelly beans and sprinkles. You could not even see the frosting.

The day was perfect for spending it in a bakery. A little chilly, a little overcast, but bright and happy in the kitchen. The smell of fresh-out-of-the-oven cakes was all around us.

Once checked in and paid, the kids took their cake to a giant table where the frosting was waiting for them to start decorating. White fluffy frosting, bags of brightly colored frosting, sprinkles, and candied roses.

The staff is all friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic! I loved watching the kids learn some different techniques to decorate.

I think the kids were a bit confused on who the cakes or at least one of the cakes were for and maybe why. But, they didn't care and ate the cakes about an hour after we got home.

Maybe it was for the best. Or maybe, we'll have to go back and buy one.

I didn't really want to eat something so beautiful and delicious anyway.

Happy Mother's Day!
