What I've Been Reading

I've been trying really hard to just read. Read for the sake of reading. I love to read. I don't know why it's such a problem to just read.

I've set a GoodReads goal to read 24 books this year.

That's ten less than my most recent record. I read five books last year. That hurts my heart.

So far, I've read three books. All three are from Audible.

I'm torn if that counts. It's not really reading, but it is?

I joined a book of the month club to balance my Audible addiction. I'm genuinely excited to get books in the mail. I remember getting books in the mail when I was a kid! This is such a treat.

I am a little worried that my subscription habit could get out of control.

Here's what I've been reading this year. Plus the book that convinced me to join a book club.

Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House

In a word, fascinating. And, fascinating in a way a train wreck is fascinating. At best, it's an amazing work of fiction.

Origin: A Novel

I love me some Robert Langdon!

Where we come from and where we are going is the theme of his latest novel. A billionaire tech guru takes on the fundamental questions of human existence. I was on the edge of my seat through the entire book. The ending blew me away!

Neverwhere

I wish there were more to this book! I love fantasy and the magic of other worlds. This had that and some. An adventure taking place in the other world of London with colorful characters and a mystery.

The Rules of Magic: A Novel (The Practical Magic Series)

Practical Magic is one of my favorite books of all time. When I saw (on Instagram) that this book was out, I ordered it right away. I read it in a weekend.

The magic, mystery, and rebellion of the Owens children starting New York at the start of the sixties. The book follows the children, Jet, Franny, and their brother through tragedies and triumphs. The family embraces the love of each other and what life throws at them.

So far, what I've read has not disappointed me. Next up, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister.
