I love the bright, bold colors in the naked trees at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens. Soon there will be lots of green leaves but the colored streamers remind me that it is spring, despite the chill in the air and the lack of flowers.
When I was growing up I loved to sketch and draw. My parents had no clue what to do with me and felt it was a waste of time. I did not take my first real art class until high school and I was hooked but I did not have natural talent and like anything else, without practice it gets rusty.
I love that my kids prefer a blank sheet of paper to coloring in a coloring book and I'm ridiculously proud of every scrap of drawing they do. I hope they will never lose it.
