Holiday Lighting Events for Cleveland and Northeast Ohio in 2014

Holiday Lighting Festivals in Northeast Ohio's Cleveland Suburbs 2014

Snow?!!?

I thought I saw a few flakes over the weekend, but thankfully it did not!

This prediction of snow for the weekend has got me thinking of the holidays and the community lighting ceremonies! I was actually going to do this with my bucket list this week but that would have made for a ridiculously long post so be sure to check out the list of events for this week, too.

There are three that the kids go to every year and one we plan on attending for the first year. I created a very special calendar dedicated to communities with holiday kick-off.

The ones I am highlighting are only a few in and around Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. They are also ones that I have been to and know that they are worth going to except for Crocker Park, but I've been to enough of their events to know that it will be spectacular. They don't do anything half-way.

Feel free to suggest ones I missed and I will add it.

Winterfest - November 29, 2014

WinterfestWinterfest event traditionally takes place on Public Square in Downtown Cleveland but this year it is extending all the way to Playhouse Square.

The lights, the decorations, the fireworks, and of course Santa Claus - this all day event is wonderful and family friendly with lots of fun stuff for adults as well. There is entirely to much to list here so check out the website for events and times.

Light Up Lakewood - December 6, 2014

Light Up Lakewood

We have watched Light Up Lakewood grow from a few hours of Santa and a sad little tree being lit up to a full out festival, with a parade, and fireworks! Plus, fun planned at Lakewood establishments all day long. If you only go to one - this is the one you really need to take the family to see!
• A main stage showcasing the talents of live bands and student performers
• Pictures with Santa Claus
• Street performers and costumed characters
• Indoor and outdoor crafts, games and activities for the entire family
• Shopping specials offered by select businesses and vendors located within the festival grounds
• A centralized food court with vendors, food trucks, and more
• An indoor Vendor Village for you to warm up and purchase some of the finest crafts and holiday treats (this is new and I can't wait!)
The worse part of the day is explaining why the Santa at lunch looks different from the Santa in the Library. I can live with that.

Did I mention my kid will be singing with he school's choir this year? Oh, and free hot chocolate every twenty feet!

Holiday CircleFest - December 7, 2014

Holiday CircleFest

Holiday CircleFest is when Wade Oval kicks off the holidays, opens the ice rink, and shows of holiday decorations. The museums are all free and there are even events planned in Wade Oval like ice sculpting and carriage rides. I must admit, we spend a great deal of time at the botanical gardens but this year - ice skating!

The Holiday Lighting Calendar is not a complete list of holiday lighting events but ones I have found. If you would like to add yours - please email me. Be sure to call any event prior to attending, just in case I have some information wrong or it was canceled.
