It is hard to admit this but, I actively avoided playing board games with my six year old. He was such a sore loser. He cried and carried on. He was not always like that and I did not let him win on purpose (most of the time) but somewhere along the line he became a sore loser and a bad winner.
And, then, he wasn't.
We played, he cheered me on, he took it with grace when he got put back to start and he even offered up his pile of candy as prize to the winner. He wasn't even winning!
I know that my kid is a good kid. I know he is struggles with understanding his emotions and now I know that he will not (always) lose his shit when things don't (always) go his way.
By the way, he won.
