I am not a fan of the cold. Winter in Northeast Ohio isn't as bad as other places. And, my little suburb is by far the best place to live if you aren't a fan of snow.
You can keep your white Christmas. And, skiing is great for other people. But, when it comes to outdoor festivals! I will bundle the gang up in every stitch of thermal underwear and make them go outside!
North Coast Harbor's Ice Fest on MLK Day
Despite the pleas and desperate cries of not wanting to leave the warm cocoon of our home, we headed downtown to North Coast Harbor.
35 ice sculptures were on display throughout the grounds of the Great Lakes Science Center, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the harbor leading to Nuevo Cleveland where hot chocolate and crafts waited. We also participated in the scavenger hunt. Last year we got hats, this year scarves, maybe next year they'll give away gloves!
Great Lakes Science Center was free for the day so we warmed up there. And one year, we may even make it inside the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Which is also free on MLK Day. Maybe.
After exploring the Science Center, we were off to finish the scavenger hunt, hit some balls with Monster's Hockey, and grab our new scarves with hot chocolate.
While it was cold, it was also a fun experience. And, one that I would like to continue to share with them for as long as they will let me drag them along.
Yes, they are giving cocoa to an ice skeleton head. No, I didn't let them actually pour it on the sculpture.
