Fall Fun Fest and Almost Apple Picking Again

Fall Fun Fest and Almost Apple Picking Again at Patterson's Farm

Hello, October!

I seriously live for fall weekends. Especially weekends that are sunny and warm. As the Hubs headed off to the Browns game, the kids and I drove out to Patterson's Fruit Farm. It's Fall Fest time which includes apple picking. We attempted apple picking last year at Patterson's, but never quite made it to the apple picking part.

Welcome Patterson's Farm Fall Fest

We could not plan for a better day if we tried. I swear Mother Nature was smiling down on Northeast Ohio yesterday in the hopes that we'd all go outside.

Corn mazes freak me the duck out. I hate doing them. I hate doing corn mazes to the point that I debated taking them anywhere near one. But, they like it and it is fun when it's over.

Besides, how can you refuse someone begging that has a face so darn cute?

I know her brother can't say no to her. He tries, but he always gives into her. Sucker.

Guess who got out of the corn maze first? Yup, me. They thought they were taking a short-cut! Mind you, they were ahead of me for a while. And, I got out of the forsaken maze first.

There is an admission fee for the Fall Fest. But, it's minimal compared to other farms that I looked at before deciding on going to Patterson's. Included is an adventure for young and old-ish.

The kids climbed on haystacks, played in mini houses, and climbed on a tractor. They just played together.

It took a bit of psyching herself up, but the little one hoped on a tricycle and raced around the track with some other kids.

And, together they took turns pushing each other around in wooden cars. She has a trust issue and ended up pushing him around way more than she let him push her.

The fan favorite was this giant hamster wheel.

The oldest, my Spawn, said he went down the 50-foot double slide, but I didn't witness it. And, I didn't get a photo of it either.

We also missed the horse-drawn wagon ride around the farm pulled Barney and Bob. I can't recall ever seeing them out there so they may have been resting. Barney and Bob are actual workhorses.

There is so much to see and do it's worth the cost to go again.

Needless to say, we didn't pick apples this year either. Instead, we drove over to the Patterson's main store and brought home a couple quarts of Honeycrisp and Jersey Mac apples. I let them pick which ones they would like. That counts.

Sadly, my Spawn didn't get an apple dumpling from the amazing bakery. He has been talking about having one for about year. They had sold out. He settled for apple cider doughnuts so it wasn't a total loss. The little one and I ate apples with cheddar cheese enjoying the sunshine. They both sipped on apple cider slushies.

I was also inspired to make hot apple crisp. It was a good day.
