It's back to school time!
Gone are the lazy days of summer. No more sleeping late and back to regular schedules. It's also back to making lunches in the wee hours of the morning. If I had a nickel for every time I said I would make lunches ahead of time, I could probably hire a maid for at least a year.
This year will be different! I will make lunches ahead of time. Okay, maybe just the snacks. And, maybe I'll just wake up early and make extra as I go.
At least shopping at my neighborhood Giant Eagle makes back-to-school time simpler.
I know that Giant Eagle will have everything I need from breakfast to lunch and even after school snacks. And, everything I need is easy to find and at prices that fit our budget.
Our Giant Eagle has all the makings for JIF peanut butter sandwiches. Plus, it's in the same aisle as my kids' favorite go-to breakfast staple. And, snacks like Oreos and Goldfish Crackers are just an aisle away from sandwich bags.
Making lunches and eating breakfast are typically going on at the same time. Bolthouse Farms makes amazing smoothies so I can keep the blender off the counter while getting their lunches together. And, the kids can grab a package of Entenmann's Little Bites on their own.
The blueberry muffins are pretty tasty with Salted Caramel Latte. On a side note, since I'm counting calories, I was pleasantly surprised that the calorie count was not too far from my typical breakfast and it kept me full all morning.
To make my mornings easier, I'm actually making bags of trail mix up ahead of time. I love Giant Eagle's portion control snack bags. The double seal at the top will keep the portioned snacks from going stale. They also help keep me from over indulging.
I'm also creating a mini snack station so the kids can grab something when they get home from school
It's hard to keep Goldfish Crackers in the house. And, trying to pick just one flavor is hard. Then it dawned on me, trail mix! All of the favorites, in one tasty snack bag.
Sweet and salty is the way to go!
School of Goldfish Snack Mix
1 cup of Goldfish Pretzel
1 cup of Goldfish Vanilla Cupcake
1/2 cup of Goldfish Cheddar
1 cup of Oreo minis
Mix together and store in an airtight container.
