Travelling is Better When You Stay at Drury Hotels

We were provided with a complimentary two-night stay to facilitate this review.
Opinions are my own.

Last month, the family and I went to Columbus for LEGO Creativity Tour and the Columbus Zoo and AquariumExperience Columbus made planning our trip carefree and the website has everything from booking a room to finding fun stuff to do during our stay.

Even though Columbus is only two hours from Cleveland, it's still two hours trapped in a car with restless kids. Travelling at night made the drive easier and I had the kids dress in their PJs hoping they'd sleep. Of course, they didn't sleep so when we spotted Drury Hotel from the expressway I was ready for bed.

A friendly front desk clerk greeted us and quickly got us checked in and explained all of the extras in no time. One of the perks staying at Drury is they offer snack time of popcorn and soda in the lobby from 3 - 10 PM.

Lucky for us we arrived before 10 PM and a bedtime snack of popcorn was a perfect way to settle down and watch TV.

Our suite had a spacious living room with a comfy couch and chair. Off of the living room was the bedroom with two full-size beds and a second TV so we did not have to watch what the kids wanted.

While the little one and I got our snacks from the lobby, the Hubs and our son searched out the gym and pool. They both got up in the wee hours of the morning to get some exercise in before breakfast.

Working out at Drury Hotel

I'm a sucker for a gorgeous bathroom and Drury Hotel did not disappoint. There was a lovely rainfall shower head and instead of those tiny bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, there were dispensers in the shower.

In the morning, we woke hungry and ready for breakfast! The last place we stayed at promised breakfast but it was just stale pastries, hard boiled eggs, and really bad coffee. Drury offered a hot buffet with fluffy eggs, hash browns, and sausage. In addition, we also had muffins, oatmeal, cereal, fresh fruit and really good coffee to pick for breakfast.

Breakfast at Drury Hotel

After breakfast, we had time to kill before heading downtown for the LEGO Creativity Tour so instead of playing mindlessly on our devices thanks to the free WiFi, we headed to the pool.

Indoor outdoor pool at Drury Hotel

The Drury Hotel in Dublin, Columbus has an indoor/outdoor pool and a whirlpool. I spent most of the time in the whirlpool and the kids splashed around in the pool. The pool is not heated so the water was crazy cold! The cold did not deter my son from swimming from the indoor pool to the outdoor pool. He loved swimming outside plus he had the outdoor pool to himself.

There are three Drury Hotels in the Columbus area. Since we would be going to the Columbus Convention Center for  LEGO Creativity and to the zoo, I picked the Salem location which is central to both locations.

Believe it or not, the LEGO Creativity Tour was exhausting and our plan to go to Zoo Wildlights was changed in favor of dinner and another dip in the pool. Instead of heading to a restaurant, we headed back to the hotel and 5:30 Kickback the hotel's happy hour meal.

I expected appetisers but was quite surprised to find a hearty selection of pasta, salad, nachos, and hot dogs for the kids. As a bonus, the Hubs and I got three free 'adult beverages' for each night we stayed. We didn't have to go out for dinner!

Once back to our room, the kids wanted to sleep on the hide-a-bed and the Hubs and I retired to the bedroom.

Our stay at Drury Hotels was worry free and easy. The room was spacious and it felt like home with a mini fridge and microwave. Additionally, there were plenty of outlets to plug in our various devices and even an alarm clock to guarantee we would not be late for breakfast. We even saved money since we didn't have to eat out for breakfast and dinner!

Before this excursion, I had never stayed at a Drury Hotel but I was happy to learn that they will be opening a location in downtown Cleveland at the old school board building. I knew something big was going on with all of the construction but didn't know that it would be a hotel. How cool is it that they are repurposing an old building instead of tearing down an old building to build a new one on the site?

We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying there again when we visit Columbus or anywhere else a Drury Hotel is located.
