Finally, David Gray, Back in the World with New Album - Mutineers #sponsored

I have received a free download of the album to review from One2One Network to facilitate this review. I have not been compensated in any other way. Opinions are my own. This contains affiliate links.

I have loved David Gray for so long now I feel like his new album, Mutineers, has taken too long!

I know that this is irrational and a little crazy but I am okay with this part of me.

I remember listening to Babylon over and over again, pinning after the cute bartender when I was waiting tables.

So, what that he had a girlfriend and he would eventually move out of state?  The song embodied how I was feeling in my twenties - partying too much, working way to hard for a little bit of money, and trying to figure out where I was going.

David Gray's new album has me back in that same state of mind, only older, and I know where my path is going and his songs seems to have him there, too. His voice is still haunting and his sound is still a little melancholy but it is now filled with glimmers of hope and joy.  I really can't stop listening to the album.

This is David Gray's tenth album and to mark the news, Gray has unveiled the video for ‘Gulls,’ the first track from Mutineers to be streamed ahead of release.

It is not my favorite on the album but it is a lovely melody.   My personal favorite is Snow in Vegas and not just the music but the lyrics - "We are selfish and needy, but that's the way God made us" and "If I had a million dollars I'd blow it on champaign."

Another favorite of mine is Back in the World.  The song is catchy and I imagine this will be a radio favorite when it is release.

I feel like his music is more upbeat in this album than in the past but it is still his unmistakable smooth, sexy sound and I have been playing it non stop for the last two days. Each song moves into the next seamlessly so they do start to sound the same after while but that is not a bad thing.

Mutineers is now available for pre-order and will be released June 17, 2014.
