Product Review & Giveway: Sand Gone & Back at the Beach!

Would you believe that North East Ohio has some pretty cool beaches?  I know, when you think of Ohio... sandy beaches do not come to mind but I swear - we have them!  Of course, I would not advise swimming in the ones that are close to the city of Cleveland but as you go further west of the city, the water gets bluer and the sand gets whiter.
Last summer
My son and I spend a lot of time at a pier across from where my mom lives and I have, on more then one occasion, used it as a bribe to get him to go visit.  It is a beautiful spot that has picnic tables and lots of grass to play on... Not to mention, my oldest brother, "taught" my Kindergartner to fish off the pier last summer.  I use the term taught loosely because he was more interested in trying to out run the water then he was standing still and patiently waiting for a nibble.

Attached to this pier and park is also a little, ity bitty bit of  beach  and we spend a good deal of time playing in the sand and jumping the surf.  Due to the location of this little beach there is a lot of debris washing up along the shore but do you know what that means - sea glass!  Or, I guess, Lake Erie glass?  Any way -  we spend a lot of time in the sand and now that the baby has had her taste of our beautiful beach, we will be spending just as much time there as we did last year.

As you can imagine, as with any beach, any where - when it comes to sand we could probably fill a small sandbox by the end of the summer with what we bring home!  I was intrigued, to say the least, when I saw an ad for Sand Gone...a dry, body powder that when applied to wet sand helps to brush the sand right off your body or the kids body.

When I got my Sand Gone in the mail, I opened it right away and the smell alone got me in the mood to go to the beach, despite the rain storm that was raging on outside.  I breathed in the amazing coconut smell and made a mental note to add this to the tote in the car with our beach supplies.  At the first sign of a "good enough day" we headed out to our beach and to see if this product would work.

Before I tell you about our trip to the beach I have to tell you - the master mind behind Sand Gone is a mom who had a "trick" to get the sand off her kids with out using water and she perfected her "trick" and is selling it online!  Necessity truly is the Mother of invention...

So... Despite the threat of rain, I packed up the kids and headed to our little beach for some much needed outdoor time and to try out Sand Gone.  My Kindergartner even donned his swim trunks in the hopes of splashing in the surf - I assure you he did not swim but I let him take his shoes off and get his feet wet.  I even had him bury his feet to see if Sand Gone would work on our Lake Erie sand.

After, digging out the feet we sat on some drift wood and I applied the powder, with the powder puff that comes with Sand Gone, to his feet while simultaneously brushing the sand away and...

... it worked!  You can see some stray bits but considering what was on there - not bad at all!  I will advise doing this after leaving the beach but before getting in the car to be more effective but since I just wanted to try it out - I got this out of the way before he played.

I did use it on the baby after she ate sand and the sand feel from her face as she tried to lick the powered puff.  All natural ingredients!  My only little issue is that I used too much when I first applied it to the baby and it went flying all over me and I looked like I got splashed with bleach or something... it came out in the wash but I looked a little strange walking around with big white splotches all over me.  I also used it before heading home and I am very pleased that it worked!

To Recap:  I got a free Sand Gone to try and I like the product!   And at only $12.95 I would purchase this to use for my family.  You can buy it from the website here and check out the about section here to read more about this amazing mom and her fabulous product!
